The LUMA Hotel located in the city of Kota Kinabalu sets itself miles apart from its contemporaries. An independant hotel affiliated to the Design Hotels brand by the Marriott hospitality group. The Design and Architecture incorporates Sabah into the hotel with a signature spiral staircase made from local Sabahan wood standing in the lobby like a great tree in significance of the amazing age old Borneo rainforests. A hotel which takes pride in protecting the environment through its approach to sustainability using local produce and products and offering guests recycled and biodegradable amenities. LUMA, meaning home in the Bajau language, aspires to be a home away from home for all travellers. The ambient lighting, the colour of the contemporary furniture, amidst the wood and greens exudes a relaxing ambiance. An ambiance and atmosphere replicated in the 115 rooms which the hotel houses. The hotel houses Sabah’s top dining and beverage within its roof, with JoJo Gastrobar for modern Asian cuisine and creative cocktails, Flow Coffee by leading local coffee roaster Crack Inc., Hinode for traditional Japanese, and Fish Market for casual Chinese hotpot.
