Overview of Walai Penyu Island

Just a 45 minute boat ride off of Sandakan Yacht Club's coast sits Libaran Turtle Island, where the Walai Penyu Resort is situated. The island is a testament to a conservation effort made possible through the cooperation of the villagers and formal authorities. Through this cooperation, the island operates a turtle conservation hatchery, ensuring the sea turtles have a safe place to lay their eggs and for their young to be released back to the ocean without any threats from predators. Guests will have the change to fully experience the wild side in style, from sleeping under the stars to walking through ancient rainforests home to unique flora and fauna.

  • The island electricity is powered by Generators which will cease at 22:00 - 06:00. You will given torchlights to be used during the period.
